Did Google Get It Right With Version Numbering?

How many Chrome users can blindly rattle off what version they are using? I couldn’t tell you, but I really prefer it to be that way. I know I’m running Firefox v8.0 at this time because a short time ago the program asked me if I wanted to update.

As a web developer, I’m often finding myself testing and retesting in multiple browser. Finding that my web application works great in IE9 and IE8 but fails in IE7. Even Firefox, the biggest competitor to Internet Explorer next to Chrome, has some issues in older browsers. Firefox v3.6 still holds over 5% of the browser market share! (source) (more…)
