Exciting CSS4 News

So I found myself reading through the latest CSS4 draft the other night and found it to be very exciting. In particular, there are a couple new selectors that I have been wanting for some time now. It appears that the CSS standards are trying to keep up with some of the javascript selector engines and the two seem to be in an even growing battle for standard functionality. The line between CSS and JavaScript seems to be getting narrower each and every day. (more…)

Web Standards: The Beginning

To often as designers and developers, we find ourselves taking a shortcut here or there. The thought of maybe I will come back to document that function later (but you never do), or you think I’ll name and group my layers (but your never do). The process of designing and developing a web site has many steps and at times can get tedious and redundant. When a step gets overlooked or short-changed, the oversight generally comes back at the worse possible time. Enter Standards. (more…)
