I moved to South Dakota from one of the largest cities in the country, Houston, Texas. In big cities, big green signs are placed frequently along just about every road and street to let people know, well in advance, the right way to get from here to there.
Not so in South Dakota where big green signs are virtually nonexistent. This makes it tough to navigate and requires asking directions which may get you an answer something like this:
“Get on the interstate and go west until you hit the Summit corner. After a few miles, you’ll see and old Coca Cola sign with bullet holes in it. Turn north there. If you hit the state line, turn around and come back about a quarter mile….”
Your website is a lot like a city. Whether it’s big or small, strategically planned website navigation makes it easy for a person to find their way around. (more…)
